Tales of Neto
The purpose of the project:
In cooperation with the EU and Transparency International at the TUMO Creative Technology Center, we were commissioned to create a learning game designed for children between 6 and 14 years of age, which tells us about the types of corruption and the dangers of tolerance to them in society. The complex part of the project was to make the game fun and educational, while avoiding such things as: money, violence and never obviously involving the main character in any shadow transactions and offers. The Decision:
Meetings with the main audience together with professional psychologists us identify stylistic solutions: the color palette, the main character, the world and non-game characters. The idea was to have a relatively dark starting location, which gradually changed to brighter colors every time corruption was revealed. To hold the audience, a beautiful story with a rich history and heroes was engaged.Instead of boring examples of corruption, we decided to combine them with the world itself Tales of Neto, in combination with different games-headsets showing the consequences of different types of corruption that the player had to overcome / decide to develop the story line. After several iterations of testing, it was decided to create a game with a isometric review of the camera. Thus, the player had the opportunity to increase / decrease scale at any time in the game so that it would be easy to move around the location and see where the next available quests are located.Recognising the young age of our player, we developed the game in such a way that the quests NPCs always brought the character to the next quests markers, thus never leaving the player alone. In addition, the main character was given a mythical creature, always accompanying the player and giving suggestions if the player is interfering, whether it is the passage of locations or the solution of headsets and mini-games.The game was fully designed and developed by its own forces, without any third party means.
