The asymmetry of the castle and its location relative to the entrance make applying the formal garden style to be quite challenging.
The solution is “formality balanced with informality” where formal elements complement the architecture (fountain, main alley, cypresses, and hedges) while curved lines of the central flowerbed and walking paths, the arrangement of cypresses and bright lush flowers divert attention from the lack of central axes and symmetry.
The whole garden consists of 4 separate areas – parterre, natural garden, vegetable garden (Le verger & Le potager), and private garden.
Each area with its own function and atmosphere but they all are linked by a common structure, lines of planning, and planting style.
Planting concept: “High Impact Low Input”, focus on minimum maintenance, naturalism, and biodiversity. This concept is best utilized in the project by using drought-resistant plants, massifs of shrubs, and a decorative sowed meadow
