Currently, any sewing machine module requires its specific needle. Thus, wrong needle choice is fraught not with only its breakage, but also inadequate stitching quality, tissue damage. In this article, we'll talk about the main criteria that you should be guided to do the right choice.

1. Sewing machine needles’ types
For various density textile, the varied needles’ diameter is used.
Respectively, sewing needles for the sewing machine are divided into three main groups:
1. Light includes 60 (8), 70 (10), 80 (12) and is intended for cotton, silk, synthetic fabrics as crepe de Chine, batiste, gauze, tricot.
2. Medium contains 80 (12), 90 (14) and 100 (16) are used for standard thickness materials - flax, cotton, twill, percale, knitwear.
3. Heavy comprises numbers: 100 (16), 110 (18), 120 (19) are for tick, tweed, gabardine, drapery fabrics processing.
The second number in the brackets also specifies diameter, but only in hundredths of an inch. For each needle number, there is a certain yarn thickness, that is also labelled.
There is a close connection between the needle points and tissues: it penetrates between the fibres and connects them:
1. Ballpoint is a good option for embroidery.
2. Regular point is used for sewing in domestic conditions.
3. Leather Point is spiky and consigned for leather and suede products. It's not used for regular cloth or artificial materials.
In order for the machine to do perfect stitches, the master is satisfied and his hands aren't got tired, you should correctly select needle type, point, and gauge.
