Automatic inventory updates in Shopify: Client case with
We received a case from a client who faced the problem of updating the quantity of over 1500 products in Shopify. These products were initially created and uploaded to the site using a third-party service that acted as an intermediary between the supplier's product site and the Shopify store itself. However, during the usage process, this service turned out to be quite expensive and complicated for the client.
For this reason, there was a need to develop a solution for automatically updating the stock of products from the supplier to the online store on Shopify. The problem was that the supplier only had a website that did not have an API or other means of data transfer. Therefore, the only solution was to use web scraping to extract information from this site, after which the updated data was transferred to Shopify inventory.
Our team successfully solved this task. We developed a solution that allowed for the automatic daily updating of product stock by synchronizing data from the supplier's site and modifying it in Shopify as needed.
