Chia Pet is a novelty planter that grows chia sprouts resembling "hair" when watered and coated with a paste of Salvia hispanica seeds. First marketed in the early '80s, it became a pop culture phenomenon with its catchy "Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!" jingle. Over 25 million Chia Pets have been sold to date, and they are even featured in the Smithsonian Institution.
