Little Olenka loves animals very much. Today she is going to the zoo with her mom and dad. How happy Olenka is! Since early morning, she has been waiting for when they will go to the zoo, spinning in front of the mirror in her new hat. And here they are at the zoo.
What interesting animals live here: a giraffe, such a tall animal, and here is a Lion, dignified and fierce, and these are cheerful and lively monkeys, and there in the distance Olenka saw a camel, how she wanted to see it. The girl ran closer.
– Mom, Dad, look, this is a camel, and it has a hump on its back, just like in my little book!
– Mom, what is this hump for, doesn’t it bother him?
– No, my daughter, the hump is a camel's storage. In the camel's hump, there are large reserves of fat, so the camel can go without food for two weeks and still feel good. Camels live in deserts. There is no water here, the sun shines very hot. And the camel, with its large fat reserves in its hump, can go a long time without food and water. The camel's hump also protects its back from overheating.
Olenka was amazed. Now she knew why the camel has a hump. The girl stood by the camel for a little longer and then ran off to look at other animals. And the camel proudly straightened its hump, as it was proud of it, this is its own storage on its back.
