Weeave — a location-based social app (in the style of Tinder)
Weeave is a social presence app tied to location, designed for real-time interaction in the real world. Unlike traditional dating apps with unlimited remote browsing, Weeave connects people only when they are physically present in the same location (e.g., in a café, gym, or lounge) and choose to be visible.
Technology stack and architecture
Frontend: Flutter (Dart) — high-performance cross-platform apps for iOS and Android.
Backend: Firebase (Firestore, cloud functions, cloud messaging, authentication).
Location technologies: geofencing, CoreLocation API, and Google Maps SDK.
Key features developed:
Active geofencing mode: Visibility mode is activated only when the user is physically inside a partner location. Visibility automatically turns off after leaving.
Real-time contextual detection: Secure geospatial queries from Firestore show only active users within a limited radius. There are no global user directories.
Intent-based statuses: Users can set temporary interaction goals (e.g., "Networking," "Coffee Chat") that automatically expire after the active session ends.
Integration with partner venues: An in-app verification system has been created that generates dynamic promo codes for receiving bonuses at participating venues.
