Not a big quote from Austin Clayne's book - theft as a artist

The unrealised poets imitate, the mature ones steal; the bad poets disguise what they use, the good ones improve or at least turn into something else. Good poets link the stolen into a single whole, causing completely unique feelings that have nothing to do with what was their source.
Art is theft.
So my good ones, steal everything that resonates with your imagination or feeds it.
Desirably absorb all the impressions and phenomena: old and new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, snow, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street indicators, trees, clouds, water flows, light and shadows.
And steal only what finds a response in your soul.
If you do so, your job – your theft – will be original.
