In the Japanese folklore, the sheep is a wise long-lasting beast that possesses magic. At the age of 50 or 100 she can become a man-will young beauty or old grandmother. The image of the sheep is the result of a mix of traditional Japanese beliefs about the beast as the messenger of the god Inari and the Chinese beliefs in which it becomes a demon-reversion.
