Setting up a secure Ubuntu Server (SSH, UFW, IP restrictions)

System & Network Administration 45 USD
Basic security hardening of Ubuntu Server has been performed in a test environment.

Implemented:

• Full system update
• Creation of a separate administrative user
• Configuration of SSH access exclusively by keys
• Disabling password authentication and root login
• UFW configuration with deny incoming policy
• Restricting SSH access by specific IP
• Setting up rate limiting to protect against brute-force
• Checking open ports using nmap

The goal was to minimize the attack surface and ensure controlled access to the server.
