Ruby on Rails marketplace
Task - to create a scalable multi-vendor marketplace from scratch - a platform where buyers choose products from different sellers, and the platform withstands peak loads.
For the rapid development of the MVP, Ruby on Rails was chosen - a framework perfectly suited for marketplace logic, complex associations, and quick integrations.
For accepting payments from various systems - Stripe, Klarna for purchases, and PayPal for seller payouts were integrated.
A key requirement set by the client - to withstand peak loads (sales, Black Friday). For these purposes, AWS ECS with container auto-scaling + Load Balancer was used to distribute requests among containers. Testing of the web application showed stable performance under high load.
To ensure the stability of the application after changes were made, unit tests (checking individual components of logic), feature tests (full functionality of user scenarios), and API tests (integration with external services) were written, which simplifies making changes to the code and allows the team to confidently develop without critical bugs.
Result: The scalable platform passed load tests, operates stably under peak traffic, a complete set of tests guarantees safety when adding new features, and is ready for sales growth and expansion of the client's business.
