The goal of the project was to breathe life into the pages of our history by transforming old, blurry black-and-white archives into large-scale, vibrant cinematic shots. The project is dedicated to the significant events in the life of Patriarch Mstyslav (Skrypnyk) — a figure whose journey united eras and continents.
Tasks and challenges:
The main challenge was to create compelling visual storytelling that would evoke emotions. It was necessary not only to achieve 100% portrait resemblance to archival photographs but also to maintain absolute historical authenticity. It was essential to overcome the typical "artificiality" of neural networks by creating an effect of real presence, where every detail — from the texture of the fabric to the reflections of light — contributes to the overall atmosphere.

Cinematic direction: Each scene was constructed according to the laws of classical cinema. Instead of flat images, real volume was created through proper work with optics, atmospheric fog, and complex lighting (from the warm rays of the "golden hour" to dramatic night light).
Attention to historical artifacts: Delicate work with details. For example, recreating the legendary battle flag of the 3rd Iron Division of the UNR Army: conveying the heavy, time-worn fabric, frayed edges, and restoring the golden embroidery of the Trident and inscriptions.
