This poem I wrote to express my thoughts and feelings about the heroes who gave their lives for our freedom and independence. For me, it is personal and at the same time universal, as it touches on the themes of memory, gratitude, and loss. I wanted to show that heroes live as long as we remember them, but even then, their physical absence leaves a void and sorrow.

In the poem, I ask the question of whether heroes truly do not die, emphasizing that not everyone survives and not everyone has songs written about them. Many heroes remain unknown to the world, receiving no recognition for their deeds, but they gave their souls to protect others. This resonates particularly with me, as among the fallen is my own father. Through this text, I aimed to convey not only personal loss but also a universal truth: the memory of heroes is what keeps their spirit alive, even when their bodies are no longer present.

For me, this poem is also about responsibility — about not forgetting those who gave everything for our lives, and the necessity of honoring them every day. It is about the connection between generations, the price of freedom, and that invisible force that lives in the memory of people for whom heroes remain examples of courage and selflessness.
