Today was one of those full-circle days working in the financial department at my mom's company. I’d been helping her for a while now, supporting financial analysis, projections, and keeping everything balanced. It’s rewarding to be part of the family business, to contribute in a way that feels tangible and familiar, knowing that each task helps support something my family built. But lately, there’s been a pull in another direction—a quiet, persistent feeling that maybe this isn’t my final stop.
The world of IT has always intrigued me: the dynamism, the pace of change, the innovative problem-solving. Every time I come across new financial software or when I’m troubleshooting tech issues, it feels like a nudge, reminding me of a different path. Today, as I wrapped up some reporting and looked around the office, I felt the need for a deeper conversation with myself, almost like calling a meeting with my future self to ask, "Is this really where you see yourself in ten years?"
I took a moment to step outside, letting the fresh air clear my thoughts. What do I want to build? How can I use my love for technology in a way that still supports my family? Maybe, in the future, my skills in IT could even take the business in a new direction.
I realized that this is not a choice I need to make right now. Both fields—finance and IT—offer me valuable skills. For now, I’m here, learning everything I can, helping my mom, building a solid foundation. And when the time is right, I’ll be ready to step into the IT sphere, equipped not only with technical skills but with a grounding in finance that will guide my path forward.
This journey feels right because it’s about growth and honoring where I come from while building toward where I want to go.
I am here to have some money in the pocket for not caring about the future.
