I have experience in developing accounting systems from scratch. I am not very familiar with Airtable, but as an alternative, more budget-friendly options can be used - for example, Teable, Baserow. The functionality is almost the same, but much cheaper to maintain.

Or there is an even more interesting option - the open-source no-code builder NocoBase with quite powerful functionality, hosted on your own server, with options available in almost one click. The system is built from scratch completely tailored to your needs, starting from the database structure and relationships (on PostgreSQL), quickly creating modern interfaces with complex data structures, and ending with advanced workflows (process automation). There are many plugins that expand functionality (although the existing built-in features cover 70-75% of needs). External integrations can be implemented through the built-in API. There is also a version with AI agents that can be customized to any preference.
