The essence is simple: a VoIP system is needed that will generate Canadian numbers, appearing as landlines (for example, with area codes 416 or 905 for Ontario), and at the same time work with mobile devices. These numbers are required for prisoners to communicate with the outside world — they must pass verification on the prison telephony side as regular home numbers.
We will implement this through proven VoIP providers who have direct access to the Canadian numbering database. We will register the necessary pool of numbers, configure routing so that calls are stable, with good quality and no delays. Considering the need to support loads of dozens or hundreds of calls per day, everything will run on a scalable VoIP infrastructure with fault tolerance — Asterisk or FreeSWITCH, plus SIP proxies and monitoring.
The user receives their number, the system recognizes who is calling and where, and simply transparently connects them via the VoIP server. Everything is encrypted, logged, and scalable.
Regarding testing — yes, initially we will provide a working number with an Ontario code, so you can verify that it is “accepted” by the prison system and functions properly.
