testing recording apps across different OS versions is always a mess because of how the OS handles permissions and sample rates. had this case before where windows audio stack dynamically changes sample rates between built-in mic and external interface, causing audio-video desync on longer tracks. on macos, the screen recording permission popup often breaks manual flows. i'll check this by querying the devices directly:

my plan is to first build a hardware matrix for both platforms, then run exploratory sessions on hot-plugging devices during recording, and finally log detailed bugs with audio logs and system specs in jira. i can start tomorrow.
