Hello, I have worked on calculators for websites where the amount is calculated dynamically based on weight, fineness, and the current metal rate. I also created an admin panel so you can change the rate per gram without a programmer.

I recommend pulling the gold rate automatically via API, so the calculator is always up to date and the client sees an honest figure, which potentially increases site applications by +10%.

Do you calculate only based on the pure weight of the metal, or do you also consider the fineness (585, 750) and the type of product separately? And is different logic needed for gold, silver, and platinum?

Let's have a call; I will prepare a calculator prototype for your website before the call, and you can see it live.

I need a widget for the pawnshop website that calculates the payout amount based on the weight of the item.

I will do the following: embed a form on the page with an input field for weight in grams, a dropdown list of metal categories (gold 585/750, silver, etc.), and JS logic for calculations based on your purchase prices per gram. I will style it to match the current design of the website, without overloading with external libraries. If prices need to be updated through a simple admin panel or hardcoded in the config — both options are possible.

Please let me know: are the prices per gram fixed or should they be pulled dynamically (for example, from the exchange rate or your CMS)?
