Как то сложно написано. По факту вам нужно чтобы апач работал как и прежде, только теперь за nginx, а nginx перекидывал внутрь https и https? Ну и поработать напильником там везде?

По факту - если в задании не уточнить про ssl то исполнитель на него забьёт 🙂

В целом да, апач должен работать за нжинксом. Нжинкс должен отдавать только статику.
