Task: Migration of Shopify app from REST API to GraphQL

Project Description:

We have a Shopify app that actively uses REST API endpoints /products and /variants. After updates in Shopify (from April 2024), these endpoints are deprecated, their usage is no longer supported, which negatively affects the stability and functionality of the app.

We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer who can:

• Conduct an audit of current REST API requests

• Rewrite them using the modern GraphQL Admin API

• Update the app logic and test the changes

• Ensure compatibility with the latest stable version of the API (2024-07 or later)

What needs to be done:

1. Analyze current REST API usage:

   • /admin/api/…/products.json

   • /admin/api/…/variants.json

   • Other related calls (if needed)

2. Rewrite these requests to GraphQL API:

   • Fetching, creating, updating, deleting products and variants

   • Working with metafields (if used)

3. Update backend application (Node.js / PHP / Ruby — to be specified)

4. Perform basic testing (in a test store)

5. Prepare a brief technical documentation regarding the changes

Requirements:

• Experience with Shopify GraphQL Admin API

• Knowledge of Shopify application architecture (OAuth, webhooks, scopes)

• Proficiency with the relevant technology stack (Node.js / Ruby / PHP — to be specified)

• Preferably: experience migrating from REST to GraphQL in Shopify apps

Additional:

• Send examples of completed projects in Shopify

• Experience with Shopify CLI / Shopify App Bridge is welcome

• It is important to adhere to agreed deadlines

Estimated Duration:

The expected duration of the task is 2–4 working days, depending on the complexity of the existing code.
