typing 50 pages of photographed typewriter text is always a headache because of scan quality, especially when old fonts get distorted. had this case before. standard ocr tools usually mess up line breaks and hyphens in old typewriter sheets, turning them into a chaotic block of text that takes forever to clean up in word. i usually run a custom cleanup first before manual typing.
def clean_text(raw):
txt = raw.replace(-\n, )
clean = .join(txt.splitlines())
return clean
here is the plan. raw text extraction and hyphen cleanup. manual side-by-side transcription in word. styling and proofreading. i do this manually to catch all typos. can start tomorrow
