AI bot: Recognizing checks from photos in Excel/Google Sheets
The Challenge:
The client was spending hours manually entering data from photos (expense receipts, invoices, handwritten forms) into spreadsheets. This process was slow and error-prone.
The Solution:
I built an intelligent Telegram bot using Make (Integromat) and OpenAI (GPT-4o Vision).
1. Input: The user simply sends a photo of the document to the chat.
2. AI Processing: The neural network recognizes text (including handwriting) and extracts specific entities (Date, Total Amount, Tax ID, Item Name).
3. Data Entry: The data is automatically populated into the correct columns in Google Sheets.
The Result:
Processing time per document was reduced from 3 minutes to 10 seconds. Human error was eliminated. The system operates 24/7.
