A children's book cover for Wobblebottom's Magical Bakehouse
The task was to create a cover for a children's book for children aged 9-12 years in a standard size according to the description provided and to adapt the cover for Instagram (4:5). The cover had to depict an eccentric little man wearing a polka-dot apron, mismatched socks and a hat made entirely of spinning lollipops. The background was to be a magical bakery, which also had a clear description.
At first, I made several versions of the main character sketches with different faces, hats, figures, etc. and offered the client to choose the elements he liked best from these three sketches, and then created the final sketch mixed with the client's preferences.
Then I added a magic bakery to the sketch and after the sketch was approved created the final illustration.
I added the background, the title of the book, and the author's name in handwriting.
To create an adaptation of the cover for Instagram, I worked a little with the composition of all the elements and added a few notes to make the page fill better.
