Personal website portfolio of a web designer
I created this project for myself as a personal website portfolio. My goal was to develop the first screen that introduces the visitor to me as a web designer within a few seconds, conveys my approach to work, and builds trust even before viewing the portfolio.
During the work, I explored various compositional solutions, typography, visual hierarchy, and the interaction of photography with the interface to create a cohesive image of a personal brand and lay the foundation for further development of the site.
Project goal
The goal of the project was to develop a personal website portfolio and explore the possibilities of editorial style in web design. During the work, I focused on building the Hero Section, where photography, typography, and composition play the main role. The project became an opportunity to explore different design solutions, test over 20 composition variants, and supplement the portfolio with relevant work.
Development process:
- Task setting — 1 hour
- UX design: planning the structure of the first screen — 2 hours
- Defining the visual style — 4 hours 40 minutes
- Generating and processing photographs — 2 hours 40 minutes
- UI design: developing over 18 composition variants for the first screen and finding the final visual solution — 6 hours
- Adapting the mobile version — 40 minutes
Project cost
The cost in the portfolio is based on the actual time spent and the hourly rate:
- Total time: 17 hours
- Hourly rate: $20/hour
- Project cost: $340
Result
As a result, I developed the concept of a personal website that became the foundation for the development of my portfolio and personal brand. During the work, the editorial approach to web design was explored, over 18 composition variants for the first screen were processed, and a final solution was found that combines photography, typography, and clear visual hierarchy. Additionally, a responsive mobile version and a series of presentation mockups were created to showcase the project.
