It is necessary to create a cover for a children's book about the plant and animal world of the Arctic and Antarctica. The book will be published in English.


!!! The main !!! criterion by which the winner will be chosen: the chosen cover must evoke an emotional reaction in the viewer (parents) - Interest, a warm emotional response, a desire to peek inside the book.


Next, we will outline our vision for the cover:

In the center of the cover is the title "Where ice-cream never melts" and ice cream. Around the perimeter from different corners of the cover, various polar animals reach out to this ice cream with expressions of playful curiosity, hope, and desire in their eyes. Perhaps they are reaching out with their tongues.


The animals should be stylistically close to those used in the book, but 100% matching is not mandatory. It is important that the expressions on the animals' faces are emotionally charged. 

Animals that can be used: polar bear, seal, fox, several different species of penguins, beluga, walrus, seagull, reindeer, arctic fox, musk ox, herring. 

Illustrations for example styles of these animals from the book are attached.

  

The cover should be bright and balanced in colors. The author Maksims Malisko should also be mentioned on the cover.


If the authors of the contest works have their own vision, but one that ultimately meets the !!!Main!!! criterion - please feel free to create your own options.

The cover includes the front and back parts. The winner will be chosen based on the front cover. However, after approval, it will also be necessary to prepare the back: on the back side, place a photo of the author with his message to the readers.

Update #1

The budget for the competition has been increased to 8000 UAH. 

Since the current arrangement of the Competition does not allow for an increase in the budget, an additional 4000 UAH will be paid to the winner through a Personal project. This format has been agreed upon with the Freelancehunt administration.


The deadline for submitting works for the competition has been extended to May 7.


Clarifications on the task: 

  • Despite the fact that the book is for children, the cover should look modern. Bright. It should stand out among other children's books of various genres and attract attention. It should make one want to "click" to see what is inside.
  • The cover should NOT fully illustrate the North Pole. It should hint at it. Through the title and through the animals. But these should be hints only.
  • The color scheme can be very diverse. Essentially, it can be anything. 
  • A creative and bright approach that will work for the set goals, making one want to learn more about the book, is welcome.


A bit of context: This book will be sold on Amazon and will compete for attention with dozens of other books in the search results. The cover is the first step that will ensure success (or its absence). When choosing a winner, we will conduct an independent survey of 100 people from the target audience, and they will choose which cover they would click on.
