Today, Ukrainian diplomats are waging a real diplomatic war against the Russian occupier. Significant successes have been achieved, entire countries are joining the anti-Putin coalition, and both large and small businesses are boycotting the aggressor.  But it is no secret that money is a terrible force, and not all companies are ready to lose it, even to stop the war. And there are not enough diplomats to pressure everyone. Therefore, we need to get involved on this front and help.

One of the largest and most expensive companies in the world, Amazon, continues to pour millions of dollars into Russia, allowing Russian sellers to continue selling on its marketplace. In a style of deception, Amazon has introduced insignificant sanctions in insignificant services to create the appearance of support for Ukraine and divert public attention from itself. For example, access for Russians to the Prime Video service has been restricted, where there is no content with Russian translation. Amazon has also dealt a powerful blow to Putin by banning the game New World in Russia. Doesn’t it seem like mockery when Russians can still be sellers on the Amazon marketplace in the USA, Canada, Germany, the UK, France, Australia, Japan, and many other wealthiest countries in the world (more than 20 marketplaces worldwide)? In fact, Amazon acts as a channel for transferring money from millions of buyers in the civilized world to the pockets of Russians. Meanwhile, buyers are completely unaware of this situation. Currently, tens of thousands of Russians are actively working on the marketplace, receiving payments and "live money" in hard currency from Amazon every day. The volume of these inflows into the Russian economy is staggering, amounting to tens of millions of dollars in revenue every month.

It is necessary to push Amazon to a complete boycott. I am launching this initiative on my own, but with the necessary experience and action plan, I am confident that we will achieve our goal. I am financing this competition from my own pocket, so I ask you to join regardless of the size of the fee and urge you to engage with soul and heart. Use your professional talent to help Ukraine in this difficult time.

TASK

Create a sharp and piercing illustration, with the potential for virality, that will be added to posts pressuring Amazon on social media. The posts will call on Amazon to stop funding the aggressor and the war. The illustration should be as clear as possible and without text, or it should strongly encourage reading the explanatory text.

The image size is 1,200 x 630 pixels.

I welcome all options and ideas,  but I will show a few that came to my mind. You can ignore them, mix them, or use them as a starting point for your own creativity.

1. Here is the Amazon logo:

image

The idea is to use this smiley/arrow as an illustration of the direction of money $$ from the USA to Russia, and then illustrate the movement of bombs or missiles from Russia to Ukraine. Or it could be a smile on Putin's face.

2. "Subscribe & Save" - this is one of Amazon's popular programs, where you can subscribe to the cyclical purchase of goods and save (like getting toilet paper delivered every Saturday). This could be played with something like Subscribe & Kill, or Subscribe & Bomb, or Subscribe & Support Russia, or Subscribe & Support War, or Subscribe & Bomb Ukraine.

Here is the logo of this program:

3. Amazon and its sellers use product photos and the phrase "Available at Amazon" or "Amazon Exclusive" in their advertising. You need to come up with some clever product to which these slogans can be added. For example, something like these books:

"How to fakely support Ukraine while sponsoring Russia"

"How to support the aggressor and stay friends with the victim"

"How to support the war and look cool"

4. Play on the currently popular satirical series Peacemaker.

"A peacemaker that sponsors the war"

5. Play on Putin's horror at the ban of the game New World in Russia.

The text on the photo - "Putin desperate! Amazon prohibits its New World game in Russia"

The text in the post - "Amazon sends millions of dollars to Russia by allowing Russian sellers to operate on its marketplaces. Amazon, suppress Russian sellers now! Putin doesn't play games, he plays war!"

image

6. Play on the idea that Amazon is a service for transferring money from ordinary Americans to Russia, as it sends the money that Americans spend on Amazon directly to Russia. Perhaps create a satirical advertisement for Amazon as a money transfer service. A kind of devilish Western Union.

7. Play on Amazon's voice assistant Alexa.

P.S.

I urge you to invite colleagues to the competition; this task is primarily not about earning money, but about helping the country in difficult times.

Update #2

I want to draw attention to the fact that one should not "overdo it" and portray Amazon as Hitler, a fascist, or a direct aggressor who kills Ukrainians. Hyperbole should be accurate, subtle, and truthful; then it will be effective.
