Text TranslationPoltava is one of the oldest and coziest cities in Ukraine, located almost in the very center of the country. The first written mention of Poltava dates back to 1174, and the city gained particular fame after the Battle of Poltava in 1709, when the troops of Hetman Ivan Mazepa and Swedish King Charles XII were defeated by the army of Peter I.
