Example of working with a beta-reader
Text Editing & ProofreadingPart of the final comment for the author about the read work, as classified by the author - drama with elements of mysticism.
"As I mentioned earlier, I consider the text from different perspectives, as a copywriter, reader, writer, publicist, and beta-reader. I give my feedback on the reading, which shows my perception of the text and the story as a whole. The points I indicate are recommendations for improvement and what to pay attention to.
As a copywriter, I focus on the text, words, sentences, and more. I highlight the impressions of the writing style. The text is perceived lively because conversational language prevails over literary language. This has its advantages because it is easier to read and closer to the reader. However, this affects the choice of words or their interpretation, sentence constructions, and language clarity, both in dialogues and descriptions. In the middle, I noted that the writing style transforms, finds a balance, and feels like it has blossomed. This is wonderful. However, such a transition may not be very well received by the reader, which also necessitates making the text more cohesive through self-editing.
… ...
As a reader. I repeat, the text reads quite easily. The supporting characters are incredible, vivid, and memorable.
...
As a writer and beta-reader. Often in creating a narrative, writer's experiments, and creativity in general, one can forget who will ultimately read all of this. The average reader - the audience is not simple. Empathy is still the main organ when reading. It is only up to the author and his skill what the character feels. If the character eats a green sour apple, the reader should feel it too. A person has 5 senses, but through text, we only act visually. What remains for us to work with is memory and imagination. Without this, it's just a description.
...
As a publicist, I can say that overall the idea, especially with a mystical twist, would attract people nicely. There is something to grab onto and hold onto here."
The main work is done in Google Docs, where I leave comments and accompany the text with emojis reacting to the plot. Additionally, I provide an expanded final feedback in text, voice, or video call format.
