1.1 Task 1: Agile Transformation
Background: Companies need to constantly adapt to market developments and remain flexible. It is essential to
recognize changing customer needs and requirements promptly and to respond to them with concrete
entrepreneurial measures to ensure long-term success. Agile approaches aim to implement these newly emerging
customer wishes as quickly as possible. Therefore, agile approaches are centred around the individual, whether
customer or employee, and the interactions between people leading to fundamental changes within the
organization. In this context, agile is more than just a methodology, but also a matter of attitude (agile mindset),
how to react flexibly to changes. Self-organization, responsibility and trust become important in an agile context.
Task: Given a previous sequential approach (waterfall model or similar) and the associated hierarchical
organizational structures, a project team is to be transformed into an agile approach. Consider a project team of
your choice. For example, use a project team in your professional environment, such as a development team or a
department. Such teams can also be located in private contexts, e. g. in associations or NGOs. Consider this agile
transformation of the team as a project.
1. Describe the team's traditional approach, the team constellation, roles and organization to date.
2. Describe the team's desired agile approach, for example based on the Scrum framework. In particular,
address the mindset, values and principles, and roles and responsibilities.
3. Develop an action plan that identifies the measures necessary to transform the team to an agile team,
addressing the differences between traditional hierarchical and agile organizations.
