Нормально надо смотреть по логам и видеть какие страницы нагружаются.
По вашему рассказу это похоже на ддос атаку, надо проверить запросы, заблочить айпи которые делают атаку, это может быть и бэд-боты, может быть и боты Яндекса и прочее.
По-хорошему надо поставить мониторинг на сайт на время загрузки страницы и ответ страницы.
Если это Интернет-магазин и есть клиенты, то лучше купить себе сервер, это будет лучшая решение, на практике уже знаю. -
