1508 USD Project: development of a data collection and analysis system from cameras in retail locations (Digital Signage + AI).
What needs to be done
Raspberry Pi 4 firmware (Python, DeepFace, OpenCV):
reading data from cameras,
analysis (age, gender, emotions, dwellTime, attentionTime, glasses),
deleting images after analysis,
transmitting metadata to an intermediate service.
Intermediate service (Node.js or FastAPI):
receiving JSON from Raspberry Pi and players,
generating events for the player (WebSocket/SSE),
transmitting data to AWS.
AWS (RDS PostgreSQL or DynamoDB):
storing data (Players, Content, FaceEvents, Movement).
Laravel API (extension):
new statistics endpoints,
filters (date, time, demographics, location),
aggregates and percentage indicators (Totals, Age%, Emotion%, Gender%, Trends, etc.),
authorization via JWT/OAuth.
Integration and testing:
checking the full cycle: Raspberry Pi → service → AWS → Laravel API → frontend (Vue.js, already implemented),
technical and GDPR documentation.

I can build this system to work smoothly from start to finish. On Raspberry Pi, the camera feed will be analyzed instantly using Python and DeepFace. The system will detect age, gender, emotions, and attention span, and then delete images, ensuring that nothing personal is saved. Only secure metadata will be transmitted.
The middleware will relay this data to players in real-time and also send it to AWS, where it will remain structured and secure. On the Laravel side, I can extend the API to already provide sums, percentages, and trends, meaning that the Vue frontend can display clear information without additional processing.
To make this more useful than a typical setup, I would add two features. First, a simple simulation mode that generates visitor movement without cameras, allowing for testing dashboards or demonstrating the system at any time. Second, a privacy dashboard that shows GDPR compliance by logging image deletions and data anonymization. This provides assurance not only about the results but also about how responsibly they are handled.
