29 USDWe're looking for a motion designer to animate marketing banners and other visual assets for a digital product. This first job is a paid test task: two welcome banners (sports/e-sport and a casino-style 550% welcome package). If the result is good, there's a large, steady pipeline of assets to animate after this.
The first taskAnimate the two attached banners. Bring the 3D objects (balls, coins, glove, etc.) to life with clean, subtle looping motion and deliver everything dev-ready with a working alpha channel.
You must be able to:
- Create sprite animations and pack them into sprite sheets / texture atlases (PNG sequences)
- Composite and work with alpha channels properly — clean edges, and an understanding of straight vs. premultiplied alpha
- Use AI image-to-video tools (e.g. Runway, Kling, Luma, Pika, or similar) to animate characters and objects from a static image, then matte/key out the background to produce a clean alpha
- Export dev-ready assets in the right format per platform/browser, specifically:
- Cross-browser transparent video: VP9/WebM with alpha (Chrome/Firefox/Edge) plus HEVC/H.265 .mov for Safari/iOS — since one format alone won't cover all browsers
- APNG and sprite sheets where appropriate; Lottie for vector-friendly UI animation
- Optimize for file size and performance (these are web banners — weight matters)
- Work in After Effects or an equivalent compositing tool
Nice to have:
- Skeletal animation (Spine, Rive, or DragonBones)
- Experience handing assets off to developers (clean naming, specs, export settings)
Deliverables for the test:
- Source/project file
- Looping animation of each banner
- Alpha exports in the formats listed above, demonstrated working over a transparent/colored background
