Linux setup + Proxmox and migration to VM (Windows Server + BAS + RDS + SQL Server)
There is a physical Windows Server 2016 with the following installed:
BAS Small Business
Microsoft SQL Server
RDP access for users (15)
PRRO
other office software
The server has risks of failure and downtime, so a quick and correct migration to the server at Hetzner in Germany needs to be conducted.
Configuration of the new server:
- Intel Xeon W-2145
- RAM 128 Gb DDR4 ECC
- 2 x 960 Gb SSD NVMe Datacenter
- 2 x 960 Gb SSD SATA Datacenter
In the first stage, it is necessary to:
Transfer the system "as is"
Minimize downtime
Not change the usual processes for users
Result of the stage: the system works on the new server without changes for users.
Accordingly, the following work is proposed:
- Install Debian 12 (one-click for automatic installation on Hetzner)
- Install Proxmox
- Configure the external Hetzner Firewall
- Create Heper-X VM (P2V) on the old server
- Convert VM to Proxmox format
- Transfer and run VM on the new server
- Provide instructions for changing IP addresses on-site
- Set up external VM backup (Hetzner Storage Box, etc.)
- Set up automatic monitoring of processes
- Agree on further maintenance
All work is to be conducted exclusively remotely (RDP, SSH).

The transfer needs to be done outside of store working hours (9:00 - 21:00).
