суть в том что там не чистое пхп, а скорее функции взяты из пхп. Я не спец, но автор дает ссылку на php мануал. поэтому я и упомянул пхп в описании.

Регулярное выражение само по себе ничего не меняет, нужен еще оператор, который переводит строку в верхний/нижний регистр. Но я не могу найти таких в документации. Они есть?

я бы код парсера не трогал, потому что он регулярно обновляется и обновление может потереть правки. Единственное это можно их предложить автору модуля, если он сочтет их полезными - можно

Тогда, я думаю, было бы логичнее заплатить создателю за внесение правок локально у Вас и выкатить в следующем обновлении это как новый функционал. Я не думаю, что это будет лишним кому-то. Тем более, что там буквально минут на десять работы.
