Может что-то не хватает на стороне google cloud - авторизаций, аутентификаций. Потому что просто создали ключ апи и активировали Google Drive API. Больше ничего тут не настраивали.

Проверьте области доступа, есть целый список + разрешения API в google у созданного приложения\авторизации. Для python использовал:

Дело в том, что на стороне ака гугл вообще ничего не настроено

Гугл серьезно относится к безопасности и требует указания что будет делаться с предоставленным доступом. Но это при продакшене, если не ошибаюсь, если вы пока тестируете, то вам нужны данные для авторизации. Вкладка Credentials в проекте и создать OAuth 2.0 Client IDs. Там можете скачать credentials.json для авторизации приложения.
