Кто есть сервер и как он отправляет команды клиенту? Или клиент должен периодически опрашивать сервер? Опишите проект более детально. Что понимается под шаблонами и от куда должны браться данные для его заполнения?

Сервер на ubuntu. На нем весь бекенд.
Сокет-соединение, данные поступают в приложение по запросу с сервера.
Шаблон - обычная страница, куда подставляются данные. Я это вижу в виде html страницы, но готов согласиться с вашим вариантом.
Данные, пришедшие с сервера, подставляются в этот шаблон.
На начальном этапе это печать фискальных чеков, а также печать ценников на товары.

Помоему для печати фискальных чеков нужен фискальный принтер.

Не обязательно. У нас настроена работа с пРРО checkbox. Вся информация о платеже уходит к ним. Оттуда получаем налоговый номер чека и все, что нужно для печати
