Very interesting task. I fully understand the specifics of working with AxiDraw and similar plotters: regular outline fonts (TrueType/OpenType) cause the pen to pass over the same spot twice, which spoils the appearance of "handwritten" text. Therefore, creating a single-line font is the only correct way to achieve a realistic result.
I have experience with vectorization and fonts, so I can offer two implementation options:
How we will do it:
1. Modifying an existing font: If you have a favorite outline font, I can "extract" the central line (skeletonizing) and manually refine the nodes so that the plotter sees only one path for the pen.
2. Creating from scratch: Creating a custom font that perfectly imitates natural handwriting, supporting Cyrillic (Ukrainian language), Latin, numbers, and symbols.
Why I am confident in the result:
Understanding the mechanics: I know how the vector path works for the plotter to avoid unnecessary pen lifts and achieve smooth lines.
Design experience: I have skills in working with curves and typography, so the font will look natural, not like a set of technical lines.
Quality: As a result, you will receive a clean vector file (SVG/TTF) that will be correctly interpreted by the plotter software.
Timeline and price:
Creating a complete custom version with all characters (Ukrainian/English) usually takes 3-5 days, so that each letter perfectly aligns with the others.
Regarding the price, I suggest discussing it privately, depending on whether we take an existing skeleton or draw everything from scratch.
