Technical assignment for transferring the website from Jimdo platform to WordPress
General information
Current website: Jimdo
Website volume: about 505 pages
Goal: transfer the website to WordPress while preserving structure, content, and SEO optimization
*1. Main goals and priorities*
Maximum preservation of the website's positions in Google (SEO)
Absolute preservation of page structure, URLs, and internal navigation logic
Minimal changes to the content, allowed only when technically necessary
Notification of the client about any critical changes
Transfer of all materials and texts from Jimdo pages to the corresponding WordPress pages
*2. URLs and structure*
All page URLs must be preserved exactly as on Jimdo
Example: if the URL on Jimdo was /gallery/weddings, it must remain the same on WordPress
The menu structure and page hierarchy (main > category > subcategory > page) must be reproduced exactly
Redirects (301) should be used only in rare cases, if it is technically impossible to preserve the URL, in agreement with the client
3. *Content and internal linking*
All internal links (between pages of the site) must be:
transferred and preserved
manually checked to ensure there are no "broken" links
All content (texts, tables, lists, headings, etc.) must be transferred in full
Preserve the heading structure (H1, H2, H3...)
Embedded videos, maps, buttons, and other elements must be transferred and functional
*4. SEO and metadata*
All meta titles (title), descriptions (meta description), and image alt tags must be transferred
When transferring, use an SEO plugin (e.g., Yoast SEO) and insert all necessary information there
Preserve:
canonical URLs
sitemap structure
robots.txt
Set up Google Search Console and Google Analytics (if not already set up on the new site)
*5. Design and visual structure*
The design will be updated, the client will provide a design example
Main categories of the site (10–15) will be reorganized — the client will provide the structure
General design requirements:
responsiveness (mobile-friendly)
modern layout (without outdated elements)
clear menu structure
*6. Images*
All images will be re-uploaded, and the URLs of the images will change — I am aware of this.
All images must:
be placed in the corresponding sections
*7. Technical aspects*
Installation of WordPress on the chosen hosting (I will connect to the hosting before starting work)
All work will be conducted in my WordPress account so I can also see the work process
Installation of necessary plugins:
SEO yoast
security (Wordfence, iThemes)
backup
caching and speed optimization
Creation of sitemap.xml and robots.txt
Check all pages using Screaming Frog or similar to eliminate broken links/errors
Mandatory manual check of 100% of pages before completing the work
*8. Testing and final check*
Check display on all types of devices (desktop, mobile)
Check loading speed (PageSpeed Insights — at least 80/100)
Check all forms, buttons, and interactive elements
Check sitemap.xml and robots.txt in Google Search Console
*9. Additional*
All actions must be agreed upon with the client, especially:
changing the structure
deleting/merging pages
replacing images
A backup of the Jimdo site must be made before starting work (in PDF or HTML)
*10. Deadlines and stages*
Breakdown of the project into stages (e.g., import → SEO data → design → check)
Final acceptance — after a complete check of all 505 pages and the SEO report
*11. Cleaning from unnecessary code and Jimdo dependencies* (because I have encountered this before)
When transferring the website from the Jimdo platform to WordPress, it is necessary to ensure a complete cleaning of all pages, templates, and elements of the site from unnecessary, outdated, or unused code, including:
any embedded scripts or styles from Jimdo (e.g., data-jimdo attributes, classes, and IDs specific to Jimdo templates);
inline CSS or JavaScript not used in the new WordPress design;
external connections to Jimdo services;
unnecessary code fragments left after import;
*The goal* — to create a “clean” and optimized WordPress structure that does not contain elements that may:
cause conflicts with WordPress plugins;
slow down page loading;
worsen SEO;
interfere with responsiveness and stable operation of the site.
Website on Jimdo: www.bemazal.com
The work will be conducted in my WordPress account.
I am sending two examples for the design:
