не то, "сделать так, чтобы у пользователя не было возможности переименовать уже загруженные картинки". Попробуй сделать 2 одинаковых названия в одной папке. ПЕРЕИМЕНОВАТЬ😁

Ваня Кузнецов на этот вопрос ответил уже - новый файл с таким же названием заменит старый. А если надо чтобы этого не происходило - проверка file_exists().

"запретить одинаковые имена у двух разных картинок" - при разных расширениях (типах картинок) вполне даже могут быть 2 и более одинаковых названия
