Причина проста и понятна - Wordpress не подходит под организацию сколько-нибудь приличного ИМ. Чтобы там не говорили Woocommerce - это все просто ад.
Совет простой тоже - не выбрасывать деньги на доделку того, что не взлетит по определению, а сделать магазин на платформе, подходящей под это дело. -
Не нужно выражать свою некомпетентность вне обсуждения проекта. Задача стоит сделать оптимизацию, а не переделать на "нормальную" CMS. Любая cms, это чисто инструмент для быстрой реализации нужной задачи. И то как она будет выглядеть в конце, зависит только от профессионализма программиста. Просто сделали все через плагины - купили шаблон на конструкторе, теперь так работает.

Такие утверждения неплохо бы подкреплять примерами типа "вот я запилил на ВП магазин - у него посещаемость уже больше 5-ти человек в час, товаров там уже штук 200 и он все еще работает со сколько-нибудь приемлемой скоростью".
Я как бы вообще не программист, я серверами занимаюсь - и насмотрелся клиентов, которые под под недомагазины на ВП покупают монстроидальные сервера, чтобы хоть как-то шевелилось. Им тоже программисты на этапе разработки показывали красивые картинки и чудесные скорости, а потом пришел гугл-бот и полтора реальных посетителя... И все забуксовало. -
