Budget: 25 EUR Deadline: 2 days

Hello. I will take on the installation of the game and help run this old 16-bit installer on your 64-bit system. This work will take one evening. What game is it specifically, so I can prepare the necessary environment for it to work correctly? I will be happy to receive your feedback, answer all your questions, and we can better orient ourselves regarding deadlines and other project details. I will gladly help.

Good day.

We need to try several methods:

🛠️ Method 1: Universal Installer Replacement (Is3Engine / Is5Engine) The retro gaming community has created special 32-bit adapters for the old InstallShield. Run the disk and open it like a regular folder (right-click on the disk in "This PC" → Open). Copy all files from the disk to a separate folder on the desktop (for example, to the Game_Installation folder). The old InstallShield requires a 32-bit replacement for the setup.exe or ikernel.exe file: Look for the InstallShield 3 32-bit wrapper project or the otvdm / WineVDM project in open sources (see Method 2). 🚀 Method 2: Using WineVDM (otvdm) — The easiest and best option WineVDM (otvdm) is a free tiny converter that gives 64-bit Windows 10/11 the ability to run 16-bit programs without installing complex virtual machines. Download the otvdm (WineVDM) program from the official GitHub page (look for otvdm-vX.X.X.zip). Unzip the downloaded archive to a convenient location (for example, to the C:\otvdm folder). Run the otvdmw.exe file as an administrator. In the opened window, select the setup.exe file (or another installation file) directly from your disk. The game installer will start as if you were running it on old Windows 98/XP! 📁 Method 3: Manual Extraction and Copying of Files Often, the 16-bit installer simply unpacks the necessary game files. Open the disk contents in Explorer. Check if there are files on the disk with the .cab extension (for example, data1.cab), archive files, or directly folders with game files (for example, the Data, Game, Assets folder). If there is an archiving program 7-Zip on the disk, you can right-click on data1.cab → 7-Zip → Extract to.... Copy the extracted folder to your PC and find the main game executable (game_name.exe) in it. 💻 Method 4: Virtual Machine (if nothing helps) If the game refuses to work on the new OS at all, the best solution would be to install VirtualBox with a Windows XP or Windows 7 32-bit image. This will create a "computer within a computer," where the disk will install without any problems. Write to me, I will help.

Good day! I can help. The problem is not with the disk, but with the fact that this is a game for Windows 95 with a 16-bit InstallShield installer. On modern 64-bit Windows 10/11, such installers do not run. This is usually resolved by installing the game through a virtual machine (Windows XP/95), replacing the old installer, or manual installation if the game files allow it. If the disk is functional, in most cases the game can be launched.

Hello! I can help you with this problem. Old games with 16-bit InstallShield can often be installed on modern versions of Windows using alternative methods. First, I will check the disk structure and try to install the game without using the outdated installer. If necessary, I will use a virtual machine or other compatibility methods. If the game is functional, I will try to find a working solution.
