Chatbot for testing Spanish language level (A1–B2)

1. Client's task
The online Spanish language school needed a tool that:
• automatically determines the language proficiency level (A1, A2, B1, B2)
• eliminates manual checking of tests by teachers
• collects results and user contacts in one place
• forwards trial lesson requests to managers
• improves conversion from test to learning
The goal is to fully automate testing and speed up the work of managers.
2. Implemented solution
I developed a Telegram bot on SmartSender that conducts a multi-level test, saves all answers in Google Sheets, and sends trial lesson requests to managers.
3. How the bot works
1) Launch
The user enters the bot via URL or QR code and selects the testing level: A1, A2, B1, or B2.
2) Taking the test
Each level contains:
• 20 questions
• 4 answer options
• selection of one option by button
• 1 point awarded for a correct answer
3) Result calculation
After completing the level, the bot shows the final score.
If the score is 15 or higher, the user is offered to take the next level.
The user can also retake the test or contact the manager.
4) Signing up for a trial lesson
When clicking "I want a trial lesson," the bot collects contact details and sends a complete notification to the managers.
5) Data export to Google Sheets
All tests are recorded automatically:
• a separate sheet for each level
• name, phone, e-mail, Telegram username
• points scored
• date and time of completion
• link to access the user
A separate sheet collects requests for trial lessons.
6) Notifications to managers
The closed Telegram group receives:
• user data
• level and points
• button to go to chat with the user
• button to open the row in Google Sheets
• notifications about questions from users
4. Results for the client
• Complete automation of the testing process.
• The team stopped manually checking tests.
• All results and requests are structured and available in one place.
• Managers receive requests promptly and respond quickly.
• Conversion to trial lessons increased due to automation.
