Design of premium cigarette packaging "Aethelgard"
Project Overview
"Aethelgard" is a concept for a limited edition of cigarettes in the premium segment. The main task of the project is to combine a strict classic style, minimalism, and modern graphic design trends, creating a product that stands out on the shelf through tactile and visual accents.
Role: Graphic Designer, Packaging Designer.
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Cinema 4D / Blender (for 3D visualization).
The Challenge
Develop a packaging design (King Size format with sharp edges) that conveys high product quality and status. The challenge was to harmoniously integrate mandatory legislative elements (health warning about the dangers of smoking and barcodes) without compromising the premium aesthetics and purity of the composition.
Design Solution
Color Palette: Deep, noble matte shades were chosen as the basis — Midnight Green (dark fir), deep blue, and warm bronze. They create a sense of restrained luxury.
Typography: A refined Serif font (with serifs) was developed for the brand name "Aethelgard," emphasizing classic roots and traditions of quality.
Graphics: The central element is an original minimalist heraldic symbol — a stylized tobacco leaf inscribed in a geometric shield.
Printing Technologies (Post-Press): The design is crafted considering modern finishing technologies — the use of matte varnish (soft-touch effect) for the pack itself and hot foil stamping for the logo and emblem.
Technical Details
The project is fully prepared for production:
An accurate technical layout (Die-line) has been developed, taking into account the lines for creasing and cutting.
Legislative requirements for the placement of warning texts in Ukrainian ("SMOKING KILLS") have been considered, occupying a clearly defined area on the front.
The internal design is well thought out: branded matte foil and the signature style of the cigarettes themselves (black cigarette paper with a gold rim on the filter).
