Integration of the ViarCanvas branch network into Apple Maps and Waze
Integration of ViarCanvas branch network into Apple Maps and Waze
Task:
The client needed to add the branches of ViarCanvas to the mapping services Apple Maps and Waze. Initially, 4 locations were discussed for the project, but during the process, the client provided data for 6 branches in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia: Riga, Daugavpils, Kaunas, Vilnius, Tallinn, and Tartu. For each location, it was necessary to correctly specify the address, phone number, website, working hours, category, and description in the local language.
What I did:
I created and set up a separate infrastructure for the project: a new Apple ID, email, and Apple Business Connect account. To expedite moderation, technical business verification was used through a TXT record of the domain, which allowed passing verification without a long wait for documents. After that, all 6 branches were entered into Apple Business Connect and sent for moderation.
Project complexity:
Apple rejected some locations due to discrepancies between the data in the listings and what the robot saw on the website. In particular, there were issues with the business category and confirming local phone numbers for Lithuania and Estonia. I analyzed the moderation responses, changed the category to the one required by Apple — Printing and Copy Service, synchronized it for all branches, and provided the client’s programmer with precise technical specifications: to add local phone numbers to the website footer so that the Apple robot could verify them across all language versions.
Waze:
For Waze, a feature of the platform was identified: the system restricts remote addition of points due to spam protection and requires a local GPS signal from the user in the region. I analyzed the mechanics of Waze, explained the process to the client, and assisted in adding points through a driver/employee on-site. For one of the locations, an application in Waze was successfully created with the correct category and photo.
Result:
The project was completed exceeding the initial scope: instead of 4 locations, a network of 6 branches was developed. At the time of the final report, the locations in Latvia and Lithuania were successfully confirmed and indexed in Apple Maps, while Estonia remained under moderation control. The client noted that all locations passed moderation, were correctly linked to the brand, and were indexed on the maps.
Client feedback:
The client noted complete immersion in the project, prompt response to changes, detailed explanations of each stage, attention to detail, and understanding of Apple’s requirements. They also specifically mentioned that the work was done professionally, on time, and exceeded the initial agreements on volume.
Integration of branches into Apple Maps / Waze — from $200–350.
Multiplatform mapping for the branch network — from $350–700+.
