On-Page and Off-Page SEO Optimization of a Media Website from Kazakhstan

The news site from Kazakhstan had significant potential but faced challenges in attracting an audience through traditional SEO channels. Although the site was registered with Google News and Google Recommendations, traffic from these sources remained insignificant.

My main task was:
1) To improve the technical optimization of the site;
2) To help authors improve the process of preparing and publishing materials for better ranking;
3) To strengthen engagement with tools that can generate additional targeted traffic.
4) Additionally, it was decided to create content not only based on the interests of the authors but also for SEO promotion. This combination allowed for an increase in organic traffic and improved the site's visibility.

Completed tasks:

1) Technical Optimization
One of the first tasks was identifying and eliminating technical issues on the site. We prepared technical tasks for the developers to improve page loading speed, enhance the site's indexing, and solve mobile version issues. We also constantly monitored the technical condition of the resource.

2) Competitive Niche Analysis
We conducted a detailed analysis of competitors in the market to understand how they achieve SEO success. Regular monitoring of competitors' development helped us stay relevant and adapt strategies to the specifics of the region and target audience.

3) Usability Optimization
Analyzing user behavior on the site and competitors' solutions, we developed recommendations to improve site usability. Usability optimization increased user engagement and reduced bounce rates.

4) Content Recommendations for the Site
We developed detailed recommendations for authors on content optimization.

This included:
4.1) Technical indicators of texts;
4.2) Preparation of meta tags;
4.3) Optimization of internal linking;
4.4) Image optimization to improve loading speed and SEO.

5) Recommendations for Additional Traffic Sources
We analyzed possible sources of additional traffic and developed strategies to attract them. This included working with Google News, Google Recommendations, and Yandex Zen to maximize the use of these channels.

6) Writing Additional SEO Content
Based on competitor analysis and seasonal trends, we selected topics for writing additional SEO materials. An important step was creating separate content that not only reflected the interests of the authors but also aimed at improving organic traffic.

7) Preparing Technical Tasks for SEO Texts
We prepared technical tasks for writing and optimizing SEO texts. This allowed the authors to create content that better meets search engine requirements.

8) External Optimization
To increase the site's authority, we worked on building external links. This helped strengthen the resource's positions in search engine rankings.

9) Monitoring Positions and Traffic
We constantly tracked the site's ranking dynamics in search engines and analyzed traffic growth to adjust the strategy based on the results obtained.

10) Monitoring Site Indexing
To speed up the indexing of new materials, we used Google Search Console and other tools for manual page submission. This allowed us to quickly respond to changes and improve the site's visibility.

Results:
In 6 months of work, the site achieved significant success in search engine optimization. The main achievement was improving the visibility of articles in Google Recommendations, which provided an additional 121,000 visits, and an additional 1,600 visits came from Google News.
Over six months, the number of visits from other sources increased 62 times — from 1,000 to 62,000 visits per month.
Thus, a comprehensive approach to optimizing the site allowed for significant audience growth and improved interaction with various traffic tools.
