Little Red Riding Hood

… Once upon a time, there was a sweet little girl who lived in a village near the forest. Everyone loved her, but most of all her grandmother. One day, her grandmother gave her a beautiful red hood made of velvet. The girl liked it so much that she wore it all the time, and soon everyone started calling her Little Red Riding Hood.

One morning, her mother said to her:
“Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak. Be polite, don’t run, and don’t talk to strangers.”

Little Red Riding Hood set out on her way. Her grandmother lived deep in the forest, about half an hour from the village. As she walked, she met a wolf.
“Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf.
“Good morning, Mr. Wolf,” she replied.
“Where are you going so early?”
“I’m going to see my grandmother. I’m bringing her some cake and wine.”
“And where does your grandmother live?” asked the wolf.
“In the little cottage under the three big oak trees,” said the girl.

The wolf thought to himself, “What a tender young creature! What a nice little mouthful—she will be even better than the old woman.” But he pretended to be friendly.
“Look,” he said, “what beautiful flowers grow here. Why don’t you pick a few for your grandmother?”

Little Red Riding Hood looked around and saw the lovely flowers. She picked one, then another, and soon she forgot all about her grandmother. Meanwhile, the wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s house and knocked on the door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf, imitating the girl’s voice. “I brought you some cake and wine.”
“Come in, my dear,” said the grandmother.

The wolf rushed in and swallowed the grandmother whole. Then he put on her clothes, got into her bed, and waited.

A while later, Little Red Riding Hood arrived.
“Good morning, Grandma,” she said.
“Good morning, my dear,” answered the wolf in a rough voice.
“Grandma, what big ears you have!”
“All the better to hear you with, my dear.”
“Grandma, what big eyes you have!”
“All the better to see you with, my dear.”
“Grandma, what big teeth you have!”
“All the better to eat you with!”

And with that, the wolf jumped out of bed and swallowed Little Red Riding Hood.

Luckily, a hunter was passing by. He heard the snoring of the wolf and thought something was wrong. He entered the house, saw the wolf, and realized what had happened. He cut open the wolf’s belly, and out came Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother, both safe and sound!

They filled the wolf’s belly with heavy stones, and when he woke up, he tried to run away but fell down dead.

Little Red Riding Hood promised herself she would never again leave the path or talk to strangers.

And they all lived happily ever after.
