It is necessary to link the weapon/tool selection with the existing locomotion so that the hands align correctly on any weapon model.
I will do this through a spherical Animator with a separate Avatar Mask for the upper body, so that idle/run do not break the hand positions. For hand positioning, I will connect Two-Bone IK (Animation Rigging package Unity) with IK target objects that are attached to each weapon, so for new weapons, it is enough to set up two empty objects and the system will pick them up automatically. I will tie the draw/hold/aim animations through Animator parameters, with smooth transitions based on conditions.
Please tell me: do you use a Humanoid rig on the character, or Generic, and how many types of weapons/tools are planned in the game?
