A practical approach that works well is a separate messaging layer (Redis Streams or just a queue in Postgres) between ClickUp webhooks and your system, with idempotent handlers by event_id.
Relevant experience — Python integrations with dozens of SaaS APIs over the last 4 years, async/await fastapi for webhook processing, robust retry with tenacity. I am currently leading a pet project where I manage ClickUp-like task states through MCP servers, so I am quite familiar with the ClickUp data model.
