Project:
System for sampling and analyzing flue gases (dust + CO₂) for tubular electrostatic precipitator in fireplace installations.

Objective:
Design in CAD (2D + 3D) a system that allows sampling gases at two points, cooling them, and supplying to SEN54 and SCD41 sensors. Also, ensure that no condensation occurs.

1. Operating Conditions

Gas flow is created by a fan after the electrostatic precipitator.
Working environment: dry flue gases, high dust content.
Temperatures:
1. After the electrostatic precipitator — average 160 °C, peak up to 250 °C.
2. At the oven outlet (before the filter) — up to 100 °C.
Maximum temperature in the analysis chamber — 46 °C.

2. What needs to be designed

2.1 Sampling probes (2 pcs.)

First probe — after the electrostatic precipitator.
Second probe — at the oven outlet, before the filter.

Tip shape: “spoon” (angled end with side opening).
Inclination: 5–10° downward along the flow.
Insertion depth: 30–50 mm.
At the end of each probe — sintered filter 20–40 μm (stainless steel).

2.2 Sampling line from probe to chamber

PTFE tube Ø 6×4 mm.
For the probe after the filter: length ≥ 1.5 m (gas cooling to ~25–30 °C).
For the probe before the filter: length according to installation (cooling as needed).
Before the chamber — common drain-settler 30–50 ml.

2.3 Sample analysis chamber

Material: aluminum or stainless steel 316L.
Volume: 0.25 L.
Interior matte black (to eliminate reflections).
Outside — aluminum radiator 40×40 mm.
Placement of SEN54 and SCD41 sensors in one airflow.
Pressure compensation: hole Ø 3–4 mm with PTFE membrane IP66.
Cable routing: through cable glands with heat resistance and IP66, outlet towards electrical compartment.

2.4 Sampling and exhaust system

Explanations for the Technical Specification: Flue Gas Sampling and Analysis System

Project goal:
Create a system that will collect a flue gas sample at two points in the duct (before and after the electrostatic precipitator), cool it, and supply it to SEN54 sensors (fine dust PM1–PM10, temperature, humidity) and SCD41 (CO₂).
The main task is to obtain accurate readings without distortions from condensation, dust deposition, and air intake.

Key parameters and requirements:

Two sampling points:
- After the electrostatic precipitator — on a straight section of pipe before the fan (at least 30 cm from the nearest bend).
- Before the electrostatic precipitator — on a straight section before its inlet (distance from bend).
Probe: stainless steel 316L, Ø6 mm, «spoon» shape, insertion into flow 30–50 mm, tilt 5–10° downward along the flow. Sinter filter at the end 20–40 μm. Insulate the first 20–30 cm.
Sampling line: PTFE tube Ø6×4 mm. After the filter — length ≥1.5 m for natural cooling. In front of the chamber — common drainage sediment trap 30–50 ml.

Drainage prevents moisture from reaching the sensors.
Natural cooling (1.5 m of tube) allows reducing the gas temperature without a complex heat exchanger.
Probe window along the flow provides a representative dust sample, not «drawing» large particles from the wall.
