We are currently working on a series of stories for children, featuring three brothers discovering mathematical mechanisms in everyday situations: eating ice cream (derivatives and integrals), sports training, concentration in learning, probability in collecting figurines, or similarity of triangles during holiday adventures.
Project Character
The project involves creating a series of books / stories, each based on a separate area of mathematics.
Currently, texts are ready covering, among others:
The stories have a volume of about 1200, 1500, 1600 words
Target Group
reader's age: 7–14 years (with the possibility of reading with a parent in younger groups),
the book should be visually appealing and understandable also for children who have not yet formally encountered the discussed concepts, we create mathematical imagination without formulas and tedious calculations
commercial project – retail sales.
Key effect: After closing the book, the child should think:
“I can think like that too.” “Mathematics works in life.” “Mathematics is cool.”
Scope of Cooperation
We are looking for an illustrator / graphic designer who:
will design characters and a coherent visual world of the series, The Three Brothers (Piotrek 12 years old, Franek 11 years old, Zdzisio 5 years old). These characters will become the basis for the visual identity (Key Visual) of our foundation
will create illustrations (including full-page ones),
will develop the concept of mathematical infographics,
will prepare stylized, “handwritten” charts (e.g., Piotrek's notebook),
will design the book format,
will perform full layout and preparation for printing,
will propose technological solutions (paper, cover, type of printing).
We assume a high degree of creative freedom in terms of visual interpretation.
A test pilot chapter is planned before the full implementation.
Preferred Stylistic Direction
soft, warm, watercolor style,
characters relatively realistic, with slight stylization,
full-page illustrations with additional infographic elements,
drawing elements stylized as notebook notes.
Production Assumptions
series of books,
initial print run of at least 100 copies per title (to be increased further),
affordable book,
decisions regarding format, cover, and printing technology – to be developed together.
Please provide information:
Portfolio of book projects.
Estimated pricing:
character and visual world design,
illustrations (approximate number per story),
layout and preparation for printing.
Proposed implementation schedule.
Cooperation model (full transfer of copyright).
Possibility of implementing a pilot chapter.
The project aims to become a long-term series and a showcase for the foundation.
We are looking for a creator who will not only illustrate the text but also co-create the visual concept of the brand.
